I have set up a variety of community organisations in the area and supported them through the process of applying for charitable registration.
I have worked with different committees of voluntary organisations in the area to apply for funding for
innovative projects, and in two cases helped them to gain funding for their own buildings – these community centres now provide a meeting place on the doorstep of two rural communities in the New Forest.
I believe that creativity is a vital skill for addressing the needs of service users, ensuring that my work remains relevant and evidence-based.
I am deeply committed to the principles of community development, focusing not only on service delivery, but also on the growth and development of those with whom I work.
As a community artist I have facilitated workshops for people of all ages in Hampshire and Dorset - in
settings ranging from working with older adults in care homes and also in a variety of adult education projects.
I have undertaken a number of mural projects all around the UK both as an individual artist and with communities - in schools, colleges, leisure centres, public buildings, private homes and swimming pools.

It was in my work as a community worker in an inner city, that I first began to work with Gypsy families on various sites and I imitated a number of projects aimed at challenging discrimination across the South coast.

My role at the Forest Bus as General manager
The Forest Bus (a registered Charity and Company limited by Guarantee) was a mobile community project which from 1993 - 2014 delivered community development work in rural areas to socially excluded groups primarily within the New Forest, but also in other areas of Hampshire and the Dorset borders. We did this by taking our mobile community centres into areas where there are no meeting places or other amenities. We provided a focus for the local community to participate in a range of activities. Primarily we responded to requests from a variety of sources to go into a locality, provide a venue, staff and resources so that we stimulated activity, resulting in change.
